Community education forum on teen substance use

The “Know the Truth” substance-use prevention program of Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge is partnering with Ramsey County officials to host a free community forum designed to educate community leaders, parents and concerned adults about teen substance use. The event is one of the initiatives of the Ramsey County Coalition, which was created to combat the opioid crisis and address the overdose rates in the community.

The forum will give community members an opportunity to hear first-hand how substance use can affect their families, offer participants a chance to learn more about current substance use trends and signs of use through hands-on experiences, ask questions about youth substance use and prevention and provide participants with tools to prevent youth substance use.

The event will also include a community resource fair and “Cracking the Code on Teen Substance Use,” an interactive exhibit created by Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge. The event will take place on Thursday, May 16, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Irondale High School, 2425 Long Lake Road in New Brighton.
