St. Anthony fifth-grader Naomi posed with Fire Marshal Chris Fuller and Fire Chief Mark Sitarz at the St. Anthony Village Fire Department’s July 22 monthly meeting. Naomi’s fire safety poster placed first in a 2018 statewide competition hosted by the Minnesota State Fire Chiefs Association, marking only the second time that a St. Anthony student has won at the state level. The St. Anthony Fire Department partnered with local elementary schools to discuss this year’s contest theme, “Look. Listen. Learn,” and encouraged local youth to participate. After department staff reviewed submissions, they sent Naomi’s poster and one other design onto the state level, where Naomi won the fourth- and fifth-grade division.
