Investigation continues into deadly Inver Grove Heights hit and run


courtesy Inver Grove Heights Police Department Haimanot Gebremedhin, 55 of Inver Grove Heights, was killed in a hit-and-run crash the evening of Jan. 5 on 80th Street East. Family described her as having been a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. The driver who allegedly hit Gebremedhin turned herself into police the next day and has not been charged with a crime.

While no charges have been filed, the investigation continues into a Jan. 5 hit-and-run that killed a 55-year-old Inver Grove Heights woman.

2019 bringing major renovations to Mounds View Public Schools


courtesy Wold Architects and Mounds View Public Schools A portion of the $165 million bond issue approved by Mounds View Public School District voters in 2017 will go towards updating and expanding Irondale High School. Construction is expected to begin this year.

Bids and construction for the Mounds View Public Schools’ district-wide building projects, including the most intensive renovations, are on pace to get under way in 2019.

Roseville police recovered stacks of stolen mail, small packages and loose gift cards — more than 400 items in all — from three people stopped in a vehicle on Jan. 1.

Bamboo Bay opens at Shoreview Community Center


courtesy of City of Shoreview Bamboo Bay, a 7,000-square-foot addition to the Shoreview Community Center’s water park, opened in December as part of a more than $15 million facility renovation.

The nearly $16 million expansion of the Shoreview Community Center wrapped up at the end of 2018 with the opening of the Bamboo Bay water park area.
