Lake Elmo approves new park

The Lake Elmo City Council on April 2 voted 3-2 to approve the construction of a park between the Wildflower and Village Preserve neighborhoods on Blazingstar Lane and Wildflower Drive.

Cops, street racers, gear up for another north suburban summer


Mike Munzenrider Highway 280 through Lauderdale is a popular throughway for Twin Cities street racing. As spring becomes summer, local law enforcement is working to deter racing on public roads, both from nuisance and public safety standpoints.

Friday night into Saturday, March 30, might have been the unofficial start of street racing in the north suburbs.

Law enforcement aims to strengthen survivor support in sex crime cases


Matt Hudson Ramsey County Attorney John Choi announced a reformed sexual assault response plan on April 4 at the Richard H. Rowan Public Safety Training Center in St. Paul. He was joined by area law enforcement officials and victim advocate professionals.

Criminal justice officials from across Ramsey County gathered in St. Paul on April 4 to announce new policies for dealing with sex crimes.

Arden Hills, Ramsey County move further apart in TCAAP dispute

Something afoul in West St. Paul


courtesy Dan Nowickil In an April Fools’ Day post, West St. Paul Marketing and Communications Director Dan Nowicki photoshopped the city’s water tower to pay tribute to the city’s chicken restaurants. He said folks frequently joke about the number of chicken joints in town.

An April 1 post on the West St. Paul city Facebook page nearly had people crying foul, had it not been for one important detail — it was April Fools’ Day.

Larpenteur to be resurfaced, bike lanes added


courtesy of Ramsey County Following resurfacing work taking place on Larpenteur Avenue between Hazel Street and Century Avenue, bike lanes will be added between Hazel and Beebe Road, while parking will remain on both sides of the road through that stretch.

The section of Larpenteur Avenue that forms the border between St. Paul and Maplewood is planned for resurfacing work this summer.

The project area runs from Hazel Street in St. Paul  to Geneva/Century Avenue in Maplewood.
