Community asked to help create new Lake Phalen mural


file photo A mural will be installed at Lake Phalen this summer and the process is being lead by artist Liv Novotny, who helped with the Urban Roots Youth Council’s mural at Phoenix Market in Dayton’s Bluff last year.

A mural will be installed at Lake Phalen this summer and organizers are asking the community to help brainstorm ideas for it.

Trail to be constructed along Johnson Parkway

Movie filmed in North St. Paul


Solomon Gustavo/Review A film crew used North St. Paul’s council chambers as a set for a city council scene in a short film. Starting left is Bruce Miller, who plays the fictional mayor, Dani Palmer plays the lead character, Samantha Schumacher wrote the movie and her husband Jason P. Schumacher directed.

North St. Paul’s city hall and council chambers were used as the set for a short film on Jan 18. The fictional city council is part of the short film “Last Straw.”

Rush Line planning adds 2 new stations


courtesy of Ramsey County The Rush Line bus rapid transit project will run between downtown St. Paul and White Bear Lake, using buses on dedicated lanes. A few stops — at Cook Avenue and Buerkle Road — were added following community input over the past few months.

As the Rush Line transit project continues though its environmental analysis and collects community input about stations, a few stops have been added to the route.

In a Jan. 18 press release, Hill Murray School on Larpenteur Avenue in Maplewood announced it received a $3.2 million gift from alumni. It’s the second largest gift in school history.

State Fair: Admission hike and new exhibit complex for 2019


courtesy of Minnesota State Fair The fair’s new $16 million North End exhibit hall is currently under construction and will feature “museum-quality exhibits” during the fair.

The Minnesota State Fair announced Jan. 20 it was building a new $16 million exhibit hall on the North End of the fairgrounds and that it was increasing the price of admission by $1 for this year’s fair.
